Meatless Monday. Good For You, and the Environment Too!
October 22, 2012 by Hana A. Feeney, MS, RD
How will you celebrate Food Day? Try Meatless Mondays!
The
Student Health Advocacy Committee (SHAC) calls for the University of Arizona Dining Services to take action now, by promoting the many health and environmental benefits of a reduced-meat diet and adopting a “Meatless Monday” policy so that only vegetarian options will be sold at Pangea on Mondays.
Eliminating the sale of meat even on a small-scale basis will help to promote healthy lifestyles that are healthy and environmentally sustainable. Limiting meat and poultry at Pangea on Mondays will also help the UA and Tucson communities recognize that food and farming systems have significant impact on our health and the ecological well-being of our planet.
